Seven Seas 5 – Discoveries Sporting

Sporting, with a bare five players, managed the situation as best they could given their opposition have two players fresh players on their bench. When you’re in this player deficit situation you need to defend foremost, you can’t chase goals with five.
Half time and Seas had opened a clear four goals lead; I feared Sporting might be overrun in the second half. Credit to them that they managed to draw the second period.

Catenaccio 2 – Wybers Juniors 9
Catenaccio opened the game with two superlative passing transitions that they failed to score from. This proved to be the pattern for the game; Wybers are the top team because no team is getting close to the high percentage of goals they score given an opportunity.

Caistor 6 – Grimsby Carpet Warehouse dl 3
Caistor from the kick off was on the front foot; racing into a half time 4-1 lead. GCW struggled to contain Caistor who was moving the ball fluently from defence to attack. GCW threatened at times but was not a consistent threat.
Second half GCW rectified their problems but was too far behind to catch Caistor.
Must be mentioned that Caistor scored from two stunning volley’s, one on each half.

Grimsby United 4 Synerjy 3
United get first win of new league to leave Synerjy at the bottom; a position they have never occupied before – to best of my knowledge.
The game was 3-3 when GU got the decisive goal with the clock nearing the full minutes played.
My notes on this game are minimal, it rained for every game and if anything got worse as the night went on. The players, officials were like the proverbial ‘drowned rats’. The only people half dry were the spectators with their umbrellas.
This game gets full 5/5 for the players who delivered an entertaining match in dreadful conditions.
