Lakeside (Harvest Futsal) win Saturday League Cup at Blundell Park

Credit to Lakeside (Harvest Futsal)for a performance well above the standard expected of a Saturday league football team.  Managers’ Mathew and John Bryant have  observed  before  the posative effects of using the Grimsby Futsal league as a training experience for their 11v11 team.  Both teams sit with a chance of taking the Futsal Premier League should All Blacks slip up.

The net result has seen the team’s Saturday performances improve as the team has evolved into a football team that takes the best of their futsal game onto the pitch with them.  The  Saturday games I have watched have seen teams struggling to contain them as the team has too many players confortable with the ball, players that are not stressed under pressure. Lakeside play their way out of trouble and then attack with clinical efficiency.

Drywall was no match for them at Blundell Park, they huffed and puffed but were out outplayed in every position.  80% of the fouls was against Drywall, and as so often happens one indescretion and the team behaving is down to 10 men; 1 lost player was enough to stem the Lakeside (Harvest Futsal) goal flow, but they kept the ball brilliantly for the remaining 60 minutes to run out worthy 3-1 winners.

The Lakeside (Harvest Futsal) team switched play and used the full Blundell Park pitch far better than any of the Sunday League or County Cup Finals I have seen played on Blundell Park.

Playing next season as Harvest in both Saturday Divisions the management is seeking to augment the squad paticularly for the second team.  Want to play for a team that tries to play football the way it should be played?
