With half term for many clubs it was shortened fixture schedule in the North East but the three ties that went ahead proved to be hard fought and tight ties.

At the top of North East League 1 it was first against second as Grimsby Town (A) faced Middlesbrough (A) at Leeds Arena. Town are unbeaten this year but went into the half time break against the Teesiders trailing by one goal to nil. After a low scoring first period the floodgates opened with 10 goals. Fortunately for the Mariners six of those strikes went in their favour as they eventually ran out 6-5 winners leaving them top of the league with an 11 point cushion.

Boro have slipped to second on goal difference with Carlisle United (A) moving into second position. The Cumbrians move into the top two after 3-0 triumph over Leeds United (A). Goals from Marko Kiss, Rhys Graham and Brady Wiser was enough to gain all three points and a six goal better goal difference than third placed Middlesbrough. As for Leeds, they remain in sixth spot with nine points.
