U14s Monday Champions League: Covid and a team missing at short notice meant just two matches played. Wybers unplayable? Catenaccio move up to a new level…

Wybers JFC 9 – Caistor Tennyson 2

Wybers JFC
Champions u14 League
2022

Wybers made a dynamic start, scoring from their first three attacks.  Team is in such form that they are proving problematic for any team they play against.

Every Wybers pass was crisp, disguised and  the right weight, the passer immediately moving into a new space.

I’m sure CT will be first to admit their passing was below the standard they would expect of themselves.

Half time CT had slowed the goals conceded to just another two, 5-0 HT.

The interval team talk improved CT as a team, losing the second half by 4-2.

Grimsby Soccer Club 3 – Catenaccio 2

Both match officials agreed this was a superb game to referee and be part of.

Both teams had the bare five players, meaning all the players had to manage their energy levels to finish the match neither physically drained or with fuel left in the tank. Let no one tell you today’s kids are unfit, the ones I’m seeing are a credit to the food they are being feed.

The game. Catenaccio have always had the vision to play a great pass, what they have lacked id defensive ‘savvy’ to not give easy goals away.  This game they came of age.  Team did not give one easy goal away, in fact they was unlucky on two they did concede, one the keeper saved only for the ball to ricochet for GSC to score and another a keeper defender collision fell to GSC for a tap in.

GSC are always pressing at the top end of the league, to get so close to taking a point (s) off them will boost Catenaccio for the future.  Defensively they have arrived.

Both coaches must be praised for their part. The match was off such a standard because of their tuition.
