The under 14s Champions League is improving both technically (individually) and tactically (the team) week on week.

Healing v Caistor

Caistor Tennyson 4 Healing All Stars 3

Battle of the Wolds and a chance for Europea League Healing to challenge Champions League Caistor.

Healing took an early lead, then lead 2-1 and 3-2; it was only at the late stages of the game Caistor levelled to 3-3 before edging a very tight game 4-3.

Caistor second goal was a passing master piece that an Academy team would have been proud of.

Healing was a danger throughout and will have been disappointed not to have taken a draw from the game.

Seven Seas 6 Discoveries Sporting 1

Half time the score was close at 2-1 to Seas. Second half Seas applied the damage.

Have to highlight it, Sporting have a player that spends to much time pirouetting on the ball; these extra touches on the ball are allowing the opposition time to organise their defence to their advantage.  Seas are masters at scoring off the counter attack, which they did with some style.

Save of the night was Seas keeper when he dived to his right only for the ball to be deflected to his left; somehow he managed to tip the ball over the bar with his trailing left arm.

Seven Seas 5 Grimsby Carpet Warehouse (dl) 2

Seven Seas obliged by playing two matches to give GCW a competitive game.

GCW are younger and newer to futsal so was always going to be on the back foot.  Credit to GCW that they improved vastly on the team’s previous outing. GCW went into the game vastly more aware of team and individual defensive responsibilities.

Everyone wants to score goals but somehow you have to achieve this without losing the team defensive structure. Futsal is not easy and mistakes are punished.

Might not be everyone’s view point but I was impressed with Seas last five minutes when they stopped pushing for more goals and went into possession mode;  keeping the ball for long periods whilst running down the clock.  Yet another futsal puzzle for GCW to solve.

Game was a credit to both teams.
