Seniors futsal hitting new heights after move indoors to Wintringham Oasis

gf_action_4I know that we Wednesday referees say Senior Futsal is getting better, but it really is week on week. The first match between Franklin and Me2 was pure magic. The play went from end to end relentlessly with passing and movement of players like a great game of chess. The breakthrough only came at 15:03 on the clock for Me2 with a well worked goal cross goal. The equalizer came at 17:38 and ended 1-1 at the break. Only one foul each as well!

The second half started as the first had begun. However, a trip by Me2 led to a free kick; one Franklin player set up to take it, but moved to the side and Matty Payne stepped up and shot. This went through a gap leaving all awestruck looking at one another. I even looked twice having to check if it was legal before acknowledging the goal. It was on 1:01. Me2 equalized on 8:24 in their usual team break manner despite pressure. The next minutes were electric and some of the best pressure football seen with Franklin using the extra man principle as Ratty pushed up. Unfortunately, on 16:04 a one on one at the half way line led to a ball going straight towards the Franklin goal with no player in their half. It literally trickled over the goal line for 3 -2. Play continued and on 18:41 another Me2 rush left Chris Gittons prone on the floor after being upended and “yours truly” about to get the ear bashing of all ear bashings from him as he looked in my direction to see the ball break to Benji and me signal ‘advantage’ whereupon Benji one on one with the keeper slotted it far post for a 4-2 win. Fantastic stuff!

The second match wasn’t quite as fast and furious throughout and a tad more tactical. However, the football was in periods just as good, tactical and rewarding. More end to end from the goalkeepers as opposed to build up play at times but equally rewarding and good to watch.  Four Bradley goals to two in the first half did the damage as two goals each in the second with changed goalkeeper. Paul in the second pulled off some remarkable saves to maintain the Borough edge. Great advert.

Roll on next week now!!!!!!!
