Two exceptional Premier League matches, reports John Drew

On the Futsal front tonight definitely deserves a few words. For weeks now we have said the football gets better and better. Well tonight it was a real treat. Two fantastically fought matches with surprises all the way.

Me2 All Stars          8         vs.         6          YMCA All Stars

The first match saw Me2 pitted against the inconsistent YMCA side. But not tonight. YMCA had by far the better first period forcing Me2 to defend for long stints to retain their league prowess. A score of 3-3 at the break had seen the YMCA trio of Chris, Josh and Dom really come of age. The second period saw more of this line ably assisted by Willow and deputised Pete Schofield who led a charmed life on the night when asked to tend goal in the second half. Indeed, the scoresheet show that YMCA were winning with 5 minutes remaining but the stalwart Kirk Russell pulled Me2 back level and their determination led to two late goals to win. But they knew they had been in a fight for the points.

Payzone cash in!

In the first match we had players coming of age in the league; in the second we had Payzone come of age and beat the potential league champions. What a spectacle for the observer to watch. Payzone cashed in! They finally got what they have been showing gradually week after week by improving and learning how this wonderful game is played. Limited rushing by Ratty; good player movement and quick inter player play but carefully protecting the defensive zone when attacking paid off. The damage was done in the first half when Payzone led 8 – 5. The second saw Franklin have to respond; and they did drawing the second 3 – 3 but this wasn’t enough.
