Futsal Premier League

 Anyone for tennis? 6-4,6-4, 6-4.

After criticising last week’s Newton Heath vs. Grimsby Catalonia game I am left to eat my words; the Monday night Futsal Premier League delivered 3 great games. All with the same 6-4 scoreline!

Valiant will argue they did not have a full team out against Newton Heath, well I watched the game and they was no ‘football mugs’ out there.  Once Newton had edged ahead they recognised a shock result was on and took their opportunity.  Craig Norman’s inclusion has lifted Newton’s team play to another level. 6-4 Newton Heath.

Fulstow Rovers played the teams last Premier League game.  Without scouring records Fulstow must have played more futsal games than any other team. They have been a Premier League fixture for 14 of the 16 leagues played.  The team will continue in the Kent Street Thursday League.

A big thank you is owed to the team for their unstinting support.

Spasmodically Fulstow rose to the levels expected of them, but to often things fell short, partly caused by confusion on the new goal keeper rule, which is testing everyone’s patience. Grimsby Institute was capable opposition that thwarted Fulstow on many occasions whilst just not having enough threat of their own to really damage Fulstow. 6-4 Fulstow.

Grimsby Institute played a second game vs. Grimsby Catalonia with a complete new squad. Liam Higton has a very strong youth squad put together for League XVII. A technically excellent squad was undone by the experience of the ‘Cats’ who bore no resemblance to the team that produced last weeks lamentable performance.  Institute 5-1 down with 10 minutes to play read the nights script to claw back to 6-4.

Liam Higton and Steve Goodwin was top class in goal, being called on time and again to make extraordinary saves.

Junior Under 11

League

All top 5 teams played. Elite went into their match second to East Coast ‘A.’ They ended the night in pole position.Third placed GSC Panthers crashed to fouth placed Little Devils. Fifth placed GSC Tigers collected 3 points and have games in hand to still rattle a few cages.  After all the hype its still anyone from five, with Elite being the target team for all the others.

Tuesday League  Barca made it two wins in last three weeks with a tidy 9-4 win against Biffa. StreetSoccer just pipped Clee Wanderers with yet another 6-4 scorelin.
El Dogoes thrashed Franklin College (13-1) who just had to be short of their full squad. Steve Walch caused all the problems with a potential ‘performance of the week.’

Wednesday League  AFC Trawl 10 GY Saxons 3.  Saxons are bottom without a win in 6. That said the GD in those games is tight at -4 per game, a situation that is retrievable.  BBS Couriers have gone top, and with a game in hand.  They beat Scartholonia 11-2, a convincing score against a team that for me under achieves. Scartholonia has potential.

Lowly Fresh dented Yarra’s title hopes taking a point in a 6 -6 shock.

Newton’s 13 Blaine 3. Two superb Newton performances in a week is a challenger for ‘team of week.’

Thursday League  Fulstow, Inbetweeners and Barca all record big wins. East Marsh win Cup Final pre run of next week’s game vs. Market Hotel.
team_of_the_week.jpg  Grimsby Soccer Club Elitefor a superb result vs. second placed East Coast Lions.  The game was a credit to both teams and could have gone either way.
