Breaking News (Week Monday 6th Sept)

Bizarre refereeing start to week!

Monday night commenced with two games one in League XVI the other League XVII. This meant each game had a different rule for the GK’s.

Basically the new rule does not allow a back pass unless the GK is in his opponents half!

The new rule created new problems to be solved, from a side of the pitch viewpoint players found it easier to press, but less easy to keep possession as the GK had been excluded as an option.  Confused, join the clubUndecided

landscape_gifhe_less_25.jpg  Fulstow are bowing out of the Monday night league in sensational style, Shamrock now know what it feels like to get a drubbing. Fulstow with out listing names were sensational, dominating their experienced opponents, who manfully stuck to their task for the full 40 minutes.  The 12-0 score illustrates the attacking skills of Fulstow, the 0 a stupendous performance from Gav’ Broughton in the Fulstow net, for one save I had already ready recorded a Shamrock goal!

 Monday Premier League
Valiant 7 Youngs’ Seafoods’ 1 was a game that highlighted the new rule problems or not. Valiant was a winner as Ryan Smith is never used as a ‘flying GK,’ Youngs had a problem, they have GK’s that could play ‘fly’ but do they risk using him in the opponents half, lose the ball and its in your own net. The’fly’ GK has become a high risk strategy.

 Under 11’s
Grimsby Soccer Club Elite have gone top of the Junior under 11 league played at Novartis, but long way to go. A ‘Rizla’ between top three, Grimsby Soccer Club Elite and Grimsby Panthers  (7 without loss), and East Coast A (9 without loss) are locked in a real battle.

 Tuesday Senior
El Dogoes comfortably beat Biffa (previously Newton Heath). Franklin College vs. Madrid was a close call game before a ball was kicked, illustrated by final score – 5-4 Madrid

Wednesday Senior  I left BBS Couriours vs. Yarra at half time with Rob Phillips team trailing Yarra by 4 goals and looking well beaten, shocked to get a call that BBS had won 8-6.  GRS 7 Scartho 6 completed the night.
