Junior futsal coaching expands to Brigg – YMCA coaching links to Barcelona (?)

Copy of P1020020At the invitation of Brigg Town under tens, I have been demonstrating Brazilian football coaching (futsal), the first session was well attended (16) and the behaviour and support from the players and coaches was excellent. Looking forward to the next three sessions.

I agree it’s a big leap from YMCA to Barcelona and not 100% accurate – I have to admit. I am now working closely with the UK branch of World Wide Soccer whose European branch have had long time links with Barca, Porto,Benfica and other leading teams. WWS has taken three UK coaches tours to Barcelona for a week of observing and working with Spanish teams. The next tour will be advertised locally, watch this space. WWS have brought over top FIFA futsal coaches to the UK; with your support these coaches will be visiting Grimsby.

Locally the next futsal (football) session is Saturday morning 9-10.00AM at the YMCA Grimsby. Some tell me it’s a bit early, that said the numbers are good and once finished everyone has rest of day free.  Great start point for young players as we work to a format, footwork, passing, small sided (never more than 5v5 on half a court) and finally a cool down game when everyone gets to play on the full court. Age’s 4-10 welcome; parents must stay with youngest players.

Paul Goodhand takes lead from myself when his work commitments allow, backed by Level 1 coach Dan Powers, supported by several parents who are taking to coaching ‘like ducks to water,’ and GTFC youth player Jacob Norburn partaking to add to his coaching experience I will stick my neck above the parapet and say this has to be the best coach to player ratio in town. And only £3 per player for an indoor facility, and a low bounce ball for every player to train with. Contact me on 07980 286663 or email info@futsal.org.uk to join.
