Match Times

Every effort is being given to accomodate teams with prefered match times; its easy to see this is not always possible when a 6KO team plays a 8KO team.  In future if there is a conflict of interest the HOME team will have preference.

Everglaze II 13 Immingham 4. Inter Fantastic, Somercotes tame Latics,

Everglaze II is a mix of old and new players, what is different are this
team will challenge at the top end of the table.  Dale’s team played some great ‘futsal,’ 1
touch, 2 touches they mixed short and long to great effect looking dangerous
whenever they had the ball.

Immingham started well and then faded, to many long balls
and not enough creativity throughout team.
Richard players need to know 2 basic facts, if you have ball 3 attack 1
reads the situation and defends, lose the ball and everyone is a defender.  Players were on half way line defending
corners?

I

North Somercotes Academy is early pace makers of Kent St
Thursday League, with 2 wins and draw in first 3 games.

They had a strange game vs. Latics who never got into any
stride or pattern.  Maybe because
Somercotes never let them.  Somercotes
quickly opened up a 3-0 lead which Latics clawed back to 3-2 at half time.  My thoughts were then that Latics would raise
their game and push Somercotes back.  As
it transpired the only Latics player to raise his game was the keeper who made
a series of great saves.  One triple save
showed as much commitment as his whole team showed on the night.  On the positive Latics never played well but
still kept the final score close at 6-4.

Final criticisms:

Latics to many times ball kicked out of play when skill on
ball could have kept in play.

Somercotes need to use length of pitch as well as width; there
are times you have to move away from the ball to create space – not be drawn
towards it like a magnet.

Inter played 40 minutes of quality futsal; every player new
his job, every players responded to every situation asked of him.  Real quality performance reflected in the
score Inter 13 Grimsby Jets 0.  To Jets
credit they made a game of it, no one gave up.
A goal would have satisfied them on the night, the fact that they did
not score was down the fact that Inter protect their keeper, and then when he was
called on Steve showed why in any debate on the best Grimsby GK his name is
mentioned.

Jets new players can be desponded by the score or thank
Inter for a great lesson in how to play futsal.

ECGS 7 Kent St 13.
Sorry I missed this game.  ECGS
has played 2 lost 2, which indicates to me the Thursday League has moved up a
playing level.  The games I watched last
night showed that the team that wins is going to have to play continually well,
easy games will be sparse.

Have we a team that could organise and travel to France?

Hello,

We are a French Futsal club located in the top north of
France and the 4th of January, 2009 we will organize our International
Tournament.

This tournament will group several top level French teams
and we are trying to develop the international side of this event that’s why we
will be really glad if you join us.

It’s a one day tournament but thanks to our two halls we
can provide more game and less wait between matches.

16 teams (or 20 according the answers) will be involved
in this tournament which aim is to permit European teams to compete together.
German, Belgian, Dutch and Spain teams will be invited too to give to this
event the biggest diversity.

For further information or specific questions, please
consult the file attached and do not hesitate to contact me at: jdp.henin-beaumont@voila.fr Even
if you’re not interested, please let me know anyway to allow me to contact
others teams.

I hope to hear from you soon,

Tuesday League Review

Tuesday I decided to take in as many games as was possible at Kent Street and Second Avenue.  I started at Kent St with Willows Chinese vs. UTM.  A close tight game to half time with Willows just edging it 1-0.  Second half everything changed, Willows scored a couple, UTM had to chase the game and in doing so let themselves vulnerable to counter attack.  One exquisite touch from Shane (Willows) is worth special mention.  I long throw out was cushioned to team mate Aussie who, give the touch the respect it deserved by placing it in the back of the net.  Final score 7-3.

Straight down to second Avenue and Wolves had just beaten but not demoralised Paragon 15-0.  Paragon have started in a league to high and will be moving down a division were their experience of better teams will be put to advantage.

StreetSoccer vs. Magpies II was the game I had planned to enjoy, regretfully it was not the game I anticipated; StreetSoccer had quality and experience on the pitch and on the bench; by contrast Magpies  II had struggled to field 5.  The final score of 12-2 in favour of StreetSoccer was not the tight result usually associated with these teams.  Magpies to their credit put maximum effort into their game, with a full squad they can take points of the top teams.

Grimsby Baptist and GK Supplies both saw this as an opportunity to get off a run of losses.  It was clear from the first 10 minutes Baptist was in for an uphill struggle.  Bit like the previous game with 1 team have the futsal experience, and in a level game it makes all the difference.  GK 11-2 winners.

Back to Kent St. and arrive to find I have missed AFC Snook 4-0 up at halftime beaten by a class second period Kent display.  From 0-4 Kent St. finished 6-5 winners and I missed it!

I also managed to miss HTS Eindhoven win a tight encounter with Humberstone by the odd goal in 9, how not to pick the best games.

At 2nd Ave. I did miss Grimsby Globetrotters well beaten by El Dogoes 11-2, a game I had marked as a close encounter.

Finally I saw watched Everglaze be a nuisance to table leaders Spiders Web.  With better organisation Everglaze could have got closer.  Offensively they come alive, defensively they are slow to organise.  Spiders more experienced (older) players will have harder tests to stay top.  Final score 7-4.

All in all an enjoyable futsal evening, credit to all teams, limited fouls were committed in the games I watched, particularly at Kent St were foul counts are always higher due to the tightness of the pitch.

A niggle for me is the number of times teams give away possession by failing to take a kick in properly.  The ball has to be stationary on the line.  Both the takers feet have to be off the pitch.  Simple but it keeps catching players out.

INTER take Kent St. Thursday League with impressive stats

Inter almost made it 100% but was denied by a 9-3 loss to close rivals Kent St in second last game.

North Somercotes
Academy
and ECGS played out one of
the best games I have seen this year, they can both take big scalps and will give no
one an easy week.

Grimsby Jets & Everglaze will have several new players
and are unknown quantities going into League III, which leaves the bottom 2 Futsal Warriors and
Immingham, both gained points during League II so are capable of results.  Several times Warriors have looked to have
turned the corner with great wins, Immingham have access to some serious
futsal players; can they get them there every week?

Watch this space.

Winners awards for all competitions will be presented at Annual Presentation night during August brea

Look at the table in any other respect, most wins, least
losses, most goals, least conceded, best goal difference, and they still won
the league

Kent St
pushed them all the way, but 1 draw and an added defeat was the
difference.  Interesting that both teams
crashed in their penultimate games.

The table indicates that Latics and Clee Futsal both will
have a say in who wins League III, both on a run of wins.

Clee Futsal – serious movers from halfway stage.

New Ferrari?

On a regular basis I get told I make a fortune from the Leagues, to the point that I start believing it and head down to test drive the latest Ferrari.

The League incurs many expenses players don’t see; I got one this week that I did not anticipate; I sent a cheque to the Lincolnshire Football Association for £265 (53 team affiliation fees at £5 per team).  I received it back, would I send £530 as team affiliation has gone up to £10 per team! My previous cheque was £1200 for futsal balls!  Referee fees, venues costs, LFA League affiliation fees; anyone want a Futsal League?

Charges like this can be incorporated within the £20 match fee; just.  Failure to pay in full or cancelling games at the cost of losing both teams match fees is the thing to jeopardize having 2 officials per game.  It’s down to all teams to be well organised to prevent this happening.  Teams managers are supporting me, players you need to be 100% behind your team manager, give him support, have back up players for those weeks you are short, don’t leave it all to one person.

Enjoy your game.

PS> Does anyone know someone who travels to and from Birmingham with a van or lorry that could transport my purchase of futsal balls back to Grimsby, very helpful if someone could help.
