Fascinating to watch careers of young people I come into contact with and how some progress to excel, some do very well and others never fulfill their potential. Damon is in that first bracket along with grimsby referee Gavin Sartain and England captain Ben Mortlock. How did they get to summit whilst others failed. Determination, single track minds,all had/have a clear goal and nothing will get in the way of achieving that goal. Support from family and friends cannot be discounted.

Damon first came to my attention when his Middlesbrough team entered the Futsal Premier League, a league I ran sponsored by FA before they set up their own FA National Futsal League. Boro was always pressing on, Damon never saw his Boro as a second tier team, just as with his coaching he always aimed for top.

Same lesson is their for all our great junior players coming through, thinking and believing you can make top is not enough, it has to be backed by actions.
