GRS played as Wed’ League All stars but could not stop El Dogos impressive form, only Valiant can stop them winning league, both teams have to play each other.  A junior under 14 game, great the support these teams are giving league.

Suffice to say that a one in a million chance has led to an appeal against the result of the penalty shoot out.

A report will follow when that appeal has be heard.

On paper a score draw, these two teams never make it easy for any opposition, and so it proved.

Gavin Broughton (GRS).  Brilliant positional play coupled with great defencive work.

Weight Watchers  had some new faces to add to already strong squad.

Credit to Saxons for scoring goal of the game, a classic futsal volley executed with precision at the back post.

Saxon’s vs. Weight Watchers

East Marsh Inter’s first game on larger Second Avenue futsal court, team normally play on the smaller Kent St. pitch.

The two pitches demand an entirely different type of game, Second Avenue
has a greater area to defend which demands a different style of game.

Inter need time to adapt, Blaine blow them on the counter attack, an area Inter struggled.

O.W.K.M had the strongest side out for several weeks, first few minutes they controlled game and a looked to players that could see the game through.  GRS against the flow of the game threaded three balls through ‘the eye of a needle’ and O.W.K.M was 0-3 down.  Extended to 4-1 half time.

GRS have an Achilles heal, seeing games off.  How many have they lost out in second half.  This threatened again as O.W.K.M kept to a game plan and retrieved the game to 3-4 with time on the clock.  Twice they hit the post with the keeper beaten, GRS missed a couple of gilt edge chances to stretch their lead.  A late counter attack gaol relieved the pressure on GRS.

Feature of the game was Gavin Broughton’s ability to find space.

The score tells the story, two closely matched teams determined not to lose.

A high foul count lead to Scartholonia having two second half ten meter free shots at the GSC goal.  One scored one missed.

It also meant that GSC had to curb their aggressive style of defence, which opened the game for Scartholonia.

After GSC had pulled back a two goal deficit the game was always only one goal in it.

GSC equalised in games dying seconds, a shot going wide brilliantly deflected into goal.

‘Mickey’ (Scartholonia) replied with the goal of the night, dribbling through static GSC defense to win game. Time only to restart.
