Kickers are an all Brazilians team residing in London. They were 2nd placed in this years Futsal Premier League (Southern Conference).
London White Bear won the tournament in 2004 and 2006. They have twice played in the UEFA Cup for futsal. Last week they beat England 7-1 in an exhibition match at the Rioch Stadium.
Futsal Preston is an unknown quantity; which makes then dangerous in a different way.
From the 6 8th July the FA will be staging the FA Umbro Futsal Cup Finals at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield. The National Finals will be contested by 16 teams originating from 40 Regional Leagues or Tournaments with the winning team gaining the right to become Englands representative in the 2008 UEFA Futsal Cup UEFAs club competition for Futsal. The Finals weekend will also feature the first Womens Senior Competition involving 16 teams as well as eight categories of youth competitions.
Futsal will be a new sport for many people but it is the world and European form of small-sided football. It has its own UEFA competitions and a FIFA World Cup. It is fast and skilful and encourages the development of technically gifted players. Futsal sustains professional leagues in Spain, Portugal, Russia, Italy, Brazil and Argentina. It is a new game that has enormous potential to develop and excite young people.
The finals will run at two venues The English Institute of Sport and Ponds Forge Sports Centre – from 1.00pm on Friday July 6 to 5.30 pm on Sunday July 8. Although you would be welcome to join us for any part of the Finals we would be delighted to invite you to attend the semi finals and finals of the Mens and Womens Championship competition from 12.30 a.m on Sunday. The Finals of the Womens and Mens competition start at 3.30 and 4.00 pm respectively.
