Kent St. Junior Tournament

A decision to make part of Freeman St Resource Centre’s tenth
anniversary celebrations a celebration of junior Futsal turned out to be
a winning idea for lads that use the centre’s pitches frequently. The
tournament was designed to reunite old foes and to introduce new on the
Futsal pitch which has helped to help spread the word of Futsal to
Scunthorpe. Appleby Frodingham u13s and Bottesford u13s entered a team a
piece to meet the challenge provided by two ‘Kent St ‘ teams and
Discoveries u 12s and Breakaways u13s. The teams were put into two
groups based on known ability and age. Then a round robin event went
ahead that brought out some fantastic play from both the Scunthorpe
teams and the two Grimsby league teams. The young players from
Discoveries far from disgraced themselves despite their lack of strength
and power. Many commentators even suggested that they played the more
intricate football. The strength and determination of the much older
Kent St Cheese FC told in a breath taking final against a fit and well
organised Bottesford side who are now looking to work with me, Frod and a
few other Scunthorpe based teams to make Futsal a part of their
training regime. Every one of the ‘new ‘participants quickly saw the
benefits of Futsal and I will be working with Bottesford and Frod to
help them transfer their Futsal skills to the bigger pitch. Overall a
great success and if you would like to take part in the next u14
competition please contact me on the details below:
