FA Junior Futsal Cup 2011

The FA National Youth Futsal Festival has been confirmed and will be staged at the Birmingham @Futsal arena between the 2nd and 3rd July 2011. Please note the U10/U12 competitions will take place on Saturday 2nd and the U14/U16 competitions will take place on Sunday 3rd July

It has been agreed with the LFA that Grimsby will provide entries for the County in the following age categories; under 10-12-14 &16.

For each age there will be two qualifiers, a school’s team qualifier and a club team qualifier, this will mean two qualifying processes, one through the Schools FA and the other the Grimsby Institute Junior Futsal League which are affiliated to the LFA.

Linzi Hewitt (LFA) is organising girls qualifying process at Lincoln.

Local qualifiers must be nominated by end of April; Regional Qualifiers will then be played between winners Lincolnshire County FA, Nottingham & Derbyshire County FA.  This group must be completed before end of May and will take place Nottingham.

The FA Junior Futsal Cup Finals will be played in a fabulous new futsal centre in Birmingham. The largest indoor futsal centre in Europe.

The origins of the FA National Youth Futsal Festival date back to 2007 when the FA held a small junior exhibition competition as part of The FA National Futsal Cup which took place in Sheffield.

The popularity and demand for places was so great that in 2008 it was decided that a standalone Festival for 64 teams would be held at the English Institute of Sport (EIS) in Sheffield. Places were awarded to teams from clubs and schools who were nominated to enter by their local County FA.

The festival returned to EIS and grew to 80 teams in 2009 whilst 2010 saw the introduction of a qualification route with teams having to earn their place in Sheffield by qualifying via local and regional competitions.
