FUSION RECOVER FROM BRINK YET AGAIN

 School Year 7/8 League

Elite 7 Spartans 3

Some brilliant patches of attacking
futsal from both teams, I say patches because both teams are so well trained on
defence that it takes something special to break them down.  From a coaches perspective I was delighted
that Spartans was able to switch between a deep defence and a full ‘press’ at
any time the signal was given.  Another
Spartans’ bonus was Jack Goodhand stepping up into YMCA trouble position – goal
keeper.  His distribution was a catalyst
for Spartans goals. Difference between the teams, Elite made less unforced errors,
probably aided by having three fresh faces on the bench.  Elite have to be commended on the teams finishing
off half chances.

Red Dragons 3 Fusion 4

For the second week running
Fusion found them 0-3. Yet again they dug themselves out of trouble, clawing
goal after goal back to lead 4-3 with time left for Dragons to recover.  Like good Dragons ‘they huffed and they
puffed’ but to no avail. Both teams played with contrasting styles, Fusion
playing a neat passing game whatever the game score, Dragon’s playing long from
the back to a dangerous front two charged with getting the ball down in dangerous
areas.

Leon………pass of the night!

Futsal Panthers 3 Lions Pride 1

Lions did everything they could
to deny Panthers vital championship points. Half time Panthers was 2-0, the
score does not tell the reader Lions Pride had hit the post twice and made, but
importantly, not taken as many chances as Panthers.  The second period Lions’ was pegged back by
the Panthers, who defended to a man, unfortunately their main weapon, counter
attack, lessened as the clock moved on. Panthers moved to 3-0 when Lions Pride
new signing scored a pile driver free kick to give them hope.

Referee J Mawer ……………3 great game!
