Tuesday

El Do-gos 4 – Franklin 4

The nights futsal started with these two going at it head to head, El do-gos
went into this one wanting to win after suffering heavy defeats
recently, they was in high spirits scoring early after catching Franklin
on the back foot on more than one occasion,Franklin reacted by pressuring
el do-gos for every ball which opened up the game,Although el do-gos defended
well,Franklin keeper Steve Goodwin caused problems playing as the ‘5th man
making it difficult for el do-gos to control the game, Franklin’s front-man Matt
was the difference between the two teams.

Trawl 8 – Valiant 10

Valiant started patiently in this one with early goals from variants ‘Gav
Schofield’ (Skoda) Quick feet & accurate finishing put valiant ahead, Trawl
pushed forward scoring 3 counter attack goals on the break, Whilst val keeper
spilt another, trawl really went for it with goals from brothers Scott &
Chris gittens who aren’t afraid of scoring or making challenges, Variants Dale
mason went off injured with a jarred knee which changed the game dramatically
having being the main threat in the 1st half, Val held on enough to
nip it in the bud before the final whistle.

GRS 6 – YMCA 3

GRS playing some really good futsal of late went into the game with high
spirits hoping to prove that they can play, YMCA with a scratch
team fought hard to keep GRS at bay with some good pressing play, The
difference was GRS’s Deano Barratt running the show, Every challenge made was a
tackle won, Every shot taken resulted in a goal. Stella performance from
both teams. Game of the night by far, no arguing, just good honest futsal.

Wednesday

Trawl set standard for new league. Trawler-men have lost that winning way.

Blaine and Newtons share local bragging rights with 3-3 draw to close league.

EDF Cottam well beaten by GSC. GSC losses only coming from top teams – EDF given their players under performing?

 Thursday

Clee County turn over Saturday morning training adversaries Crowland Athletic 4-1. Big result for County who initial was a breakaway team from Crowland. Player/Manager Rhys as added to his squad each week, this result being the outcome of recent changes.

Crowland will argue they missed two key players, I’m not sure they would have turned game round to a Crowland win.

Tigers just keep going, bottom of the league but playing with smiles on their faces. Humberstone must have scored most of their goals when I was distracted as the-game looked closer than 15-1.*

GSC gave late notice they was unable to play, County stood in and played a second game – greatly appreciated.  To give Titans a serious work out County played 6 vs. 5. Titans still won 8-0, a score that illustrates how good they are and the challenge other teams have to catch them.

A Clee player told me at the game end how much he had learned from the game, and how it had changed his perception of futsal.

* Humberstone player injured in game (fall to floor) was in hospital this morning with discolated shoulder, the league wishes ‘Malcy’ a speedy recovery.
