Novartis teams set week off to a stunning start.

Having missed the junior leagues for a couple of weeks I felt compelled to go and watch, I was not disappointed.

First on N Waltham and East Coast Lions ‘B,’  Waltham are late starters to futsal but are learning fast. ECL ‘B’ are hard to judge, maybe its a confidence thing, the teams results do not match their play.  One additional player, one top scalp and their season will change for the better.  8-2 Waltham.

Little Devils 9 vs. Discoveries Panthers 3. This was a top class game, magic goals from both teams, Only a late collapse flattered the LD’s score line.  The improvement I see in the teams is I believe matched by those watching.  Both teams was creating goals by skillful inter-passing and ‘immediatly’ they lost the ball the same players was defenders.  Impressive.

By an unfortunate accident GSC Tigers only had 4 players to play table toppers Elite.  Not a problem, Elite sporting agreed to play 4v4. What followed was one of my best ever experiences in futsal, imagine the two best boxers in the world locked on combat, every inch of the court was contested.  At the finish the lads got a spontaniouse  round of applause from the many spectators. They deserved it.  The players faces was drained. Thankfully the 3-3 score meant no team lost. What an example of local youth football, if GTFC can’t produce junior players they should step aside, the GFL has managers with limited qualifications setting a top class example of what can be achieved with limited to no financial resources; they just might be able to improve the current crop of under achievers.   Is their a case that futsal at the lowest ages should be 4 vs. 4?  this game has made a few of us think.

My apologies to GSC Panthers (7) and West Marsh (2). I had to miss your game to make an appointment at Second Avenue.

 Premier League

Just got down to catch last 10 minutes of Valiant vs. Youngs’ Seafood’s. Now I don’t know what the first 30 was like but the last ten was electric.

2-2 to Valiant when I arrived,3-2, 3-3, 3-4, and 3-5 when Sam Brooks lobbed Ryan Milson in the Valiant gaol from 30 yards.  Valiant had an outfield of Powers, Baldock, Lewsham, Hunter, Emson, Jenkins, enough out field guile to sink 99% of opposition teams! Youngs’ manager Rob Phillips was understandably delighted at the end, he knows this result, early in the new league as it is, has opened up a can of worms.

Tuesday  Trawl drop valuable point as they share 12 goals with Franklin College. El Dogoes trounce Clee Wanderers to stay three points behind Madrid. El Dogoes superior goal difference could be critical at end of season.  StreetSoccer pip Barca in tight 7 gaol battle.

Wednesday  Form teams Newton heath,GRS,BBS Couriers aided by unpredictable Fresh took all the points.  Amazed that no one rung in on the night to say games was being abandoned, where I was in Cleethorpes was flooding with torrential rain.

 Thursday

Inbetweeners and Everglaze remain locked at top, but look at those bizarre stats.  Both teams has 30 points from 12 games, both have lost 2 games and conceded almost identical; but look at the goals scored.  Everglaze 73 Inbetweeners 168 for a +122 gaol difference.  A show down battle looms.

Could have been the Valiant vs. Youngs game or the complete night of under 11 junior futsal at Novartis.  Standing above those alternatives was Dean Gladwell’s brillinat refereeing of the Valiant vs. Youngs game.

Please keep those nominations coming in.
