Grimsby Catalonia contrived to lose the title in the closing weeks having put themselves in a position were the title was theirs to be won.

Going into Monday’s games early leaders Fulstow Rovers, with a resurgence in  results, and aided by Catalonia loses, found themselves top of the table.  To stay there they needed both Catalonia and BBS (formerly Harvest) to lose.  Not a likely scenario, but better than no chance at all.  Both Catalonia and BBS won, goal difference handing the title to BBS.  Ignoring the leagues formative games, probably the only occasion they was top!

Congratulations to all teams in giving the league its closest fought challenge to date.

Finally a word of condolence to Dean Gladwell, a stalwart of the league, Dean’s Catalonia have steadily improved to such a golden opportunity to win the league. Now Dean is big enough to take defeat on his shoulders, but to end up in hospital with serious ligament injury after a fall in that final game was a pain he did not deserve.

Brother Sean suffered a double fracture in a competitor 5 aside league and has still to return to football after several months sidelined.  If your names Gladwell, change it, these things come in 3’s.
